Preparatory work
Disconnecting the battery negative lead
CAUTION: The driver information module (DIM) must not be replaced at the same time. This would erase the mileage.
NOTE:
- Automatic alarms to the emergency services can be triggered if the vehicle is fitted with Volvo On Call.
- Applies to 2005-. Check which mode global opening/closing is programmed in and make a note of it. See Vehicle communication, Programming global opening/closing window.
Disconnect the battery negative lead.
Removal
Removing the passenger side soundproofing panel
Remove:
- the 2 clips
- the soundproofing panel. Pull straight down, then backwards.
Removing the central electronic module (CEM) / relay box
Remove:
- the 2 screws
- the control module / relay box. Fold down and pull towards you.
NOTE: Ensure that the control module / relay box is in the lower position when you remove it from the mounting.
- the cable ties
- the connectors.
NOTE: Note the location of the relays.
Remove relays and fuses from the control module / relay box.

Installation
Installing the central electronic module (CEM) / central relay module
CAUTION: The pins are fragile. Check that the connector goes straight down into the control module.
Install:
- relays. Take care with the positioning
- the connectors. Press down carefully
- the control module / relay box
- the 2 screws
CAUTION: Install 2 cable ties as illustrated.
Install the soundproofing panel, 2 clips.
Install the battery negative cable.

Finishing
Programming control module
NOTE: Applies to 2005-. Program the mode global opening/closing was programmed in. See Vehicle communication, Programming global opening/closing window.
Reset the service indication message. Otherwise the lamp receives the incorrect reference. Global time is reset when replacing the Central Electronic Module (CEM). Resetting of the service indication message is carried out according to resetting the service indication message.
