Faulty Signal

2003 Volvo V70 2.4 L5-2.4L VIN 61 B5244SSECTION Faulty Signal

Faulty signal

Checking the component and wiring

- Ignition on.
Activate the read off for the signals for the brake pedal position and stop lamp switch.
Check that the value at the brake pedal position is approximately 0 % when the brake pedal is unaffected and approximately 55 % when the pedal is fully depressed with the engine running.
Also check that the stop lamp switch activates when the pedal is depressed.
Check the brake pedal position sensor's and engine control module (ECM) connector for contact resistance, loose connection and oxidation.

Hint: The brake pedal position sensor signal is sent to the engine control module (ECM) from the brake control module (BCM) via CAN.

Check that the stop lamp switch is correctly installed.
Remedy as necessary.
