Condition




The engine control module (ECM) checks the signals from the throttle position sensors.
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-914C is stored in the engine control module (ECM) if the engine control module (ECM) registers a fault in the signals from the throttle position sensors.
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-914C can be diagnosed when the ignition is on.

Substitute value
- In the event of a detected fault in one of the signals the other signal is used
- The cruise control is disengaged when the fault is active.

Possible source

Signal too high
- Short-circuit to voltage in the signal cables
- Short-circuit to battery voltage in the power supply
- Open-circuit in the ground lead
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the ground lead
- Defective electronic throttle unit (ETM).

Signal too low
- Short-circuit to ground in the signal cables
- Open-circuit in the signal cables
- Short-circuit to ground in the power supply
- Open-circuit in the power supply
- Defective electronic throttle unit (ETM).

Faulty signal
- Contact resistance in the terminals
- Defective electronic throttle unit (ETM).

Fault symptom[s]
- Poor accelerator pedal (AP) response
- Cruise control does not function at all.
