The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module, when driving with normal battery voltage, registers a short-circuit to ground or supply voltage in the canister purge (CP) valve signal cable or an open-circuit.

- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable.

Signal too low
- Short-circuit to ground in the signal cable
- Open-circuit in the signal cable
- Damaged valve.

Fault symptom[s]

- Fuel smell in the engine compartment
- Deterioration in performance
- Uneven idle.
