3-1-4 CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, SIGNAL

Trouble Code Conditions
- If the engine control module (ECM) does not receive a signal from the camshaft position (CMP) sensor for 2.4 engine revolutions, diagnostic trouble code (DTC) EFI-314 is posted after 1 second on the next attempt to start the engine.
Substitute value(s)
- On engine start fuel injection and ignition are absent.
Possible source(s)
- Short-circuit to ground or supply voltage in signal cable.
- Open-circuit in signal cable, power cable or ground lead.
- Contact resistance in terminals.
- Defective camshaft position sensor.
Fault symptom(s)
- Engine does not start.

Other diagnostic trouble codes
- Read off other diagnostic trouble codes.
- Are diagnostic trouble codes EFI-123 and EFI-411 stored?
Yes:
^ Check common throttle position (TP) sensor, engine coolant temperature sensor and camshaft position sensor terminal # A18 on the engine control module for contact resistance, oxidation or an open-circuit.
No:
^ Proceed to test step below.
