General Repair Information: Transmission

2012 Volkswagen Jetta TDI, 4D Wagon, Standard TransSECTION Transmission
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

Always make sure that no dirt enters an >>open<< transmission. Dirt entering an >>open<< transmission can cause a malfunction especially with a >>open<< DSG transmission mechatronic -J743- and/or oil pump.

  • Do not run the engine and do not tow the vehicle if the transmission cover is removed or if there is no transmission fluid inside the transmission.
  • Always clean the connection points and the area around them first, then loosen them.
  • When installing the transmission, make sure the alignment sleeves are correctly seated between the engine and transmission.
  • Place removed parts on a clean surface and cover them so that they do not get dirty. Use foil or paper. Use a lint free cloth.
  • Only install clean components. Install replacement parts immediately after removing them from their packaging.
  • Carefully cover or plug unpacked components if repairs cannot be performed immediately.
