Steering Column Seal: Installing
-- Place shaft seal and cover (2) over mounting studs on floor pan and securely install fasteners. Make sure cover extends down over top of steering gear housing.
-- Verify the front wheels of vehicle are in the straight-ahead position.
-- Collapse the intermediate shaft (2). Center it over the steering gear pinion shaft (3), lining up the ends, then slide the intermediate shaft onto the shaft extension.
-- Install the intermediate shaft coupling bolt (1). Tighten the bolt to 42 Nm (31 ft lbs).
-- Reposition the floor carpet in place.
-- Remove steering wheel holder.
-- Road test vehicle to ensure proper operation.
