-- Clean the O-ring sealing surfaces on the pump (1) and cover.

-- Apply Volkswagen genuine parts dielectric grease or equivalent silicone grease to the O-ring to facilitate assembly.

-- Install a new O-ring seal onto the water pump (3).

-- Position the water pump (2) to the engine.

-- Install the water pump bolts (1). Tighten the bolts to 12 Nm (106 in lbs).

-- Install the timing belt. Refer to TIMING BELT .

-- Fill the cooling system. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING AND FILLINGΒ .
