  • Check coolant temperature in display field 7.
  • Specification: less than 73 (equates to 85 ° C)

Continue with check only when coolant temperature is attained.

The start of injection in display field 2 is dependent on the fuel temperature in display field 9.

A - Display field 2 start of injection

B - Display field 9 fuel temperature

C - Specified range for start of injection

Example:

The numerical value 90 in display field 9 - - corresponds to a numerical value range of 34 to 73 in display field 2 - -.

NOTE:
  • If the start of injection specifications are within zone - - , no adjustment is required. After repairs e.g. removing and installing the injection pump or adjusting the timing then the start of injection is to be set to the mean valve (dashed line) of the specification zone - -.

If the start of injection (timing) is outside the specification tolerances:

  • Loosen two injection pump sprocket bolts - -.
  • Position 22 mm wrench onto hub nut - - to counter-hold pump shaft.
  • Loosen 3rd injection pump sprocket bolt and turn pump shaft slightly: To left = retards start of injection. To right = advances start of injection
NOTE:
  • DO NOT loosen the hub nut - -. If nut - - is loosened the injection pump basic setting will be altered and this cannot be reset with normal workshop equipment.
  • Tighten new injection pump sprocket bolts to 20 Nm.

If injection pump has not been removed and installed beforehand:

  • Install new injection pump sprocket bolts in sequence.
  • Observe figures in field 2 and if necessary adjust again until mean value for specification zone - - is displayed.
  • Tighten injection pump sprockets securing bolts a further 1 / 4 turn (90 ° ).
  • Press → button.

If DTC memory has been erased, the readiness code must be generated again → Readiness code, setting  .
