  • Print out Engine Control Module (ECM) J248 identification and previous ECM code as follows:
  • Connect Scan Tool (ST) V.A.G 1551/1552 → Scan Tool V.A.G 1551 , connecting  .
  • Press - - and - - buttons to select Address word 01: "Engine Control Module (ECM)".
  • Switch ignition on.

Scan Tool (ST) V.A.G 1551 display will show Engine Control Module (ECM) identification, e.g.:

038906018M 1.9l R4 EDC G00AG 1813 ->
Coding XXXXX WSC XXXXX
  • Print out Engine Control Module (ECM) J248 identification by pressing Scan Tool (ST) print button.
  • Press → button.
  • Press buttons - - and - - for the function "End output" and confirm entry with the - - button.
  • Switch off ignition.

  • Press securing tab - arrow  - to left and pull Engine Control Module (ECM) J248 out.
