Selector Lever Cable, Removing And Installing: Installing

- Check protective sleeve for damage.
The protective sleeve can only be replaced together with selector lever cable.
- Check that protective sleeve is correctly installed. Do not install protective sleeve twisted.
- Do not bend or kink selector lever cable.
- Selector lever and selector shaft lever are in "P" position and front wheels are blocked.
- Guide selector cable - 3 - into mounting bracket and press onto selector lever - 2 -.
- Install new locking plate - 1 - for selector lever cable onto mounting bracket.
Installation position:
The angled end of locking plate must face end of selector lever cable.
- Move selector lever from "P" to "2".
- Selector lever mechanism and selector lever cable must move freely. Replace selector lever cable, refer to Selector lever cable, removing and installing or repair selector lever mechanism as necessary.
- Move selector lever to "P" position.
- Bolt cover with glued-on seal to mounting bracket. When doing this, check position of seal.
- Tighten nuts - arrows A - to 10 Nm.
- Then tighten both bolts - arrows B - to 25 Nm.
- Push protective sleeve of selector lever cable into cover.
- Install front and middle heat shields for tunnel.
- Hook selector lever cable into retainer on front heat shield.
- Reassemble exhaust system. Refer to 26 - EXHAUST SYSTEM, EMISSION CONTROLS .
- Hook selector lever cable - 1 - into retainer - arrow - on engine.
- Loosen bolt - 2 - on front ball socket - 1 - of selector lever cable.
- Place selector lever cable in transmission support bracket and push onto selector shaft lever - 4 - using pliers.
- Install new securing clip - 3 - to selector lever cable at transmission support bracket.
- Tighten bolt - 2 - to 13 Nm.
- Check selector mechanism, refer to Selector mechanism, checking .
