STEERING LOCK HOUSING, REMOVING





Removing
- remove steering wheel




- remove switch securing screws (arrows)
- disconnect switch connectors
- remove turn signal and winshield wiper/washer switch from steering column
- remove washer, spring and support ring from steering column
- remove mounting bolt and remove steering lock housing


Installing
- slide steering lock housing onto steering column and install mounting bolt
- install support ring, spring and washer onto steering column
- using special tool VW 420, drive support ring, spring and washer onto steering column until fully seated

NOTE: If the steering column shaft recedes into steering column tube, thread nut onto shaft and pull shaft out.
