3 Cover
4 5th gear operating sleeve and synchronizer hub (with thrust washer)
5 Circlip (always replace)
6 Thrust washer
- Not installed on vehicles with 2.0 liter engines.
7 Retaining plate
- Used with 2.0 liter engines only.
8 5th gear
- Installation position:
^ With 2.0 liter engine, circular groove upward.
^ All other engines, groove upward.
9 Securing plate (always replace)
10 Shift fork (5th gear)
11 Bolt with dished washer - M17
- Always replace.
- Engage 5th and reverse to loosen or tighten.
- Apply VW D6 locking fluid before installation.
- 150 Nm (111 ft lb)
12 Gasket (always replace)
