Removal [10/2019 - 08/2020]: Procedure

2020 Toyota RAV4 XLE, AWDSECTION Procedure
  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. READ NUMBER OF STARTER OPERATIONS 

    Refer to REGISTRATION [10/2019 - 12/2021]

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2019 - 06/2020] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [06/2020 - 08/2020]

  4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020]

  5. REMOVE ENGINE STOP AND START ECU 
    1. Remove the engine stop and start solenoid filter.

      See step  2

    2. Disconnect the 3 connectors from the engine stop and start ECU.

    3. Detach the clamp and disconnect the wire harness from the engine stop and start ECU.
    4. Remove the 2 nuts and engine stop and start ECU.
