2020 Toyota RAV4 XLE, AWDSECTION Procedure
  1. REMOVE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2018 - ]

  2. INSPECT MANUAL (SOS) SWITCH (MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY) (for TMC Made) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Manual (SOS) Switch (Map Light Assembly))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      22 (SIG1) - 14 (GND3) Manual (SOS) switch not pressed 408 to 417 Ω
      22 (SIG1) - 14 (GND3) Manual (SOS) switch pressed 81 to 83 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, replace the manual (SOS) switch (map light assembly).

    2. Inspect the operation (red indicator)
      1. Check that each indicator illuminates when 2 dry cell batteries are connected to the map light assembly connector terminals as shown in the illustration.

        *a Component without harness connected
        (Manual (SOS) Switch (Map Light Assembly))
        *b Two 1.5 V dry cell batteries

        OK

        Battery Connection Specified Condition
        10 (IND1) - Battery positive (+)
        14 (GND3) - Battery negative (-)
        Red indicator comes on.
        NOTE:

        Do not apply more than 3 V.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the manual (SOS) switch (map light assembly).

    3. Inspect the operation (green indicator)
      1. Check that each indicator illuminates when 2 dry cell batteries are connected to the map light assembly connector terminals as shown in the illustration.

        *a Component without harness connected
        (Manual (SOS) Switch (Map Light Assembly))
        *b Two 1.5 V dry cell batteries

        OK

        Battery Connection Specified Condition
        23 (IND2) - Battery positive (+)
        14 (GND3) - Battery negative (-)
        Green indicator comes on.
        NOTE:

        Do not apply more than 3 V.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the manual (SOS) switch (map light assembly).

    4. Inspect the operation (HELP indicator)
      1. Check that each indicator illuminates when auxiliary battery are connected to the manual (SOS) switch (map light assembly) connector terminals.

        OK

        Auxiliary Battery Connection Specified Condition
        24 (RRID) - Auxiliary battery positive (+)
        14 (GND3) - Auxiliary battery negative (-)
        HELP indicator comes on.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the manual (SOS) switch (map light assembly).

  3. INSPECT MANUAL (SOS) SWITCH (MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY) (for TMMC Made, except Panoramic Moon Roof) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      9 (SIG1) - 10 (GND3) Manual (SOS) switch not pressed 408 to 417 Ω
      9 (SIG1) - 10 (GND3) Manual (SOS) switch pressed 81 to 83 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, replace the manual (SOS) switch (map light assembly).

    2. Inspect the operation (red indicator)
      1. Check that each indicator illuminates when 2 dry cell batteries are connected to the map light assembly connector terminals as shown in the illustration.

      1. Check that each indicator illuminates when auxiliary battery are connected to the manual (SOS) switch (map light assembly) connector terminals.

        2 (RRID) - Auxiliary battery positive (+)
        10 (GND3) - Auxiliary battery negative (-)
        HELP indicator comes on.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the manual (SOS) switch (map light assembly).

        20 (RRID) - Auxiliary battery positive (+)
        12 (GND3) - Auxiliary battery negative (-)
        HELP indicator comes on.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the manual (SOS) switch (map light assembly).
