DTC C1AAE-00: Front Recognition Camera Heater Malfunction [11/2018 - 12/2021]: Procedure

2020 Toyota RAV4 XLE, AWDSECTION Procedure
  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2018 - 12/2021]

      Chassis > Front Recognition Camera > Clear DTCs 

    2. Make sure that the DTC detection conditions are met.

      HINT: 

      If the conditions are not met, the system cannot detect the malfunction.

      Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2018 - 06/2020] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2020 - 12/2021]

    3. Recheck for DTCs and check that no DTCs are output.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2018 - 12/2021]

      Chassis > Front Recognition Camera > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      DTC C1AAE-00 is not output.

      Result

      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [11/2018 - ]

  2. CHECK FORWARD RECOGNITION WITH HEATER HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Forward Recognition with Heater Hood Sub-assembly)
    2. Disconnect the P17 forward recognition with heater hood sub-assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 (IG1) - 2 (HTR) Ignition switch off 28.5 to 31.5 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE FORWARD RECOGNITION WITH HEATER HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 12/2021] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FORWARD RECOGNITION WITH HEATER HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY - BATTERY) 
    1. Disconnect the forward recognition with heater hood sub-assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      P17-1 (IG1) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 8 to 16 V
      Ignition switch off Below 1.5 V

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FORWARD RECOGNITION WITH HEATER HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY - FORWARD RECOGNITION CAMERA) 
    1. Disconnect the P17 forward recognition with heater hood sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the P8 forward recognition camera connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P17-2 (HTR) - P8-1 (HTR) Always Below 1 Ω
      P17-2 (HTR) or P8-1 (HTR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the P8 forward recognition camera connector.
    5. Reconnect the P17 forward recognition with heater hood sub-assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE FORWARD RECOGNITION CAMERA. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 12/2021] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
