THEFT DETERRENT / KEYLESS ENTRY: SMART KEY SYSTEM (for Entry Function): Back Door Entry Lock and Unlock Functions do not Operate
- Back Door Entry Lock and Unlock Functions do not Operate
DESCRIPTION
When the back door entry lock and unlock functions do not operate, one of the following may be malfunctioning: 1) power door lock control system, or 2) back door electrical key antenna (for outer), or 3) main body ECU (cowl side junction block LH), or 4) certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
Before performing the inspection, check that there are no problems related to "CAN Communication System" and "LIN Communication System".
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK POWER DOOR LOCK OPERATION
(a) When the door control switch of the master switch assembly is operated, check that the locked doors unlock.
OK:
Door locks operate normally.
NG -- GO TO POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM Operation Check
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (BACK DOOR LOCK SWITCH, BACK DOOR OPEN HANDLE SWITCH)
(a) Using the Techstream, read the Data List.

OK:
"ON" (switch is pushed) or "OFF" (switch is not pushed) appears on the screen.
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH - BODY GROUND)
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU [SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY] - OUTSIDE ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR)
(a) Disconnect the E29 ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the K23 antenna connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. REPLACE BACK DOOR ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA (for Outer)
(a) Replace the back door electrical key antenna Removal.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK BACK DOOR ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA [for Outer] (OPERATION)
(a) Check that the entry functions operate normally.
OK:
Entry functions operate normally.
NG -- REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY)
OK -- END (BACK DOOR ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA IS DEFECTIVE)
6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH - BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the S7 switch connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH Removal
