Occupant Classification System: Precaution

NOTE: Do not use seat accessories (such as cushions or covers) that cover the front seats. Also, do not modify or replace the upholstery of the front seat. Doing so may prevent the front passenger airbag system from activating correctly, disable the system or cause the front passenger airbag to inflate accidentally, and result in death or serious injury.
  1. INSPECTION PROCEDURE FOR VEHICLE INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT 
    1. Perform the zero point calibration and sensitivity check if any of the following conditions are met:
      • The occupant classification ECU is replaced.
      • The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator indicates OFF when the front passenger seat is not occupied.
      • The vehicle is brought to the workshop for repair after an accident or a collision.
  2. EXPRESSIONS OF IGNITION SWITCH 
    1. The type of ignition switch used on this model differs according to the specifications of the vehicle. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.
