Knock Sensor, Intake Manifold: Removal

2008 Toyota RAV4 Limited, 2.4 D, FWDSECTION Removal
  1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSUREĀ  (See REMOVAL )
  2. DRAIN COOLANTĀ  (See REPLACEMENT )
  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINALĀ 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  4. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVERĀ  (See REMOVALĀ  )
  5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAPĀ  (See REMOVALĀ  )
  6. REMOVE THROTTLE BODYĀ  (See REMOVALĀ  )
  7. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPEĀ  (See REMOVAL )
  8. DISCONNECT FUEL TUBEĀ 
  9. REMOVE HEATER WATER INLET HOSEĀ 
    1. Remove the hose clamp.
    2. Remove the heater water inlet hose from the heater radiator unit and cylinder head.
  10. REMOVE HEATER WATER OUTLET HOSEĀ 
    1. Remove the heater water outlet hose from the heater radiator unit and water by-pass pipe.
  11. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLDĀ 
    1. Disconnect the union to check valve hose from the brake booster.
    2. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector.
    3. Remove the wire harness clamp.
    4. Remove the union to check valve hose from the vacuum hose clamp.
    5. Remove the 5 bolts, 2 nuts and intake manifold.

    6. Remove the gasket from the intake manifold.

  12. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD INSULATORĀ 
    1. Remove the intake manifold insulator from the cylinder block.

  13. REMOVE KNOCK SENSORĀ 
    1. Disconnect the sensor connector.
    2. Remove the nut and sensor.
