Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
How To Proceed With Troubleshooting
- Refer to troubleshooting of each system if DTCs regarding the CAN communication system are not output.
- DTCs U0110-159, U0110-160, U0110-656, and U0110-657 are not DTCs for the CAN communication system. Therefore, refer to the troubleshooting procedures for the hybrid control system.
- CHECK AND CLEAR DTCS
- CHECK CAN BUS LINE
- Check the CAN BUS LINE .
- CHECK INTELLIGENT TESTER VIA CAN VIM
- Select "BUS CHECK" (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM ).
Result
DTC RESULT DESCRIPTIONA All the ECUs and sensors connected to the CAN communication system are displayed on the screen. B An ECU or sensor not connected to the CAN communication system is displayed on the screen. C More than one of the ECUs and sensors not connected to the CAN communication system are displayed on the screen. (If the displayed ECUs and sensors are only those relating to the 'ENGINE' and 'HV', proceed to B) NOTE:- The systems (ECUs, sensors) that adopt CAN communication vary depending on the vehicle and option settings. Check which systems (ECUs, sensors) are installed on the vehicle (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM ).
- Non-installed ECUs or sensors are not displayed. Do not mistake them for being in the communication stop mode.
- If 2 or more ECUs or sensors are not displayed on the intelligent tester via the CAN VIM, perform troubleshooting for communication stop mode for each undisplayed ECU or sensor. (Open in one side of the CAN sub bus lines.)
- If DTCs U0146-435 and P3108-594 are output and 'GATEWAY' is displayed in 'BUS CHECK' on the intelligent tester, refer to the MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM .
B: COMMUNICATION STOP MODE TABLE
C: GO TO 1 "CHECK FOR AN OPEN IN ONE SIDE OF THE CAN SUB BUS LINES"
A: Go to next step.
- Select "BUS CHECK" (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM ).
- DTC COMBINATION TABLE
- Confirm trouble according to the combination of output DTCs regarding the CAN communication system.
HINT:
Previous CAN communication system DTCs may be the cause if CAN communication system DTCs are output and all ECUs and sensors connected to the CAN communication system are displayed on the intelligent tester's "BUS CHECK" screen via CAN VIM.
- Confirm trouble according to the combination of output DTCs regarding the CAN communication system.
- CIRCUIT INSPECTION
- IDENTIFICATION OF PROBLEM
- REPAIR OR REPLACE
