Title
INITIAL CALIBRATION OF COMPASS DURING PDS
Component
GENERAL INFORMATION
Models
'01 - '06 Sequoia
Some 2001- 2006 model year Sequoia vehicles are equipped with a compass option. Use the following procedure to complete initial calibration of the compass during the ROAD TEST section of Pre-Delivery Service (PDS).
APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2001 - 2006 model year Sequoia vehicles equipped with the compass option.
WARRANTY INFORMATION:
INITIAL CALIBRATION PROCEDURE:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position and push the "MODE" button to display the outside temperature on the multi-information display.
2. Push and hold both the "MODE" and "E/M" buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds until the "VAR" indicator appears on the compass display.
Then push the "E/M" button to select the number of the zone where the vehicle is located.
See the map for zone reference.
3. Check that the direction (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW) appears several seconds after adjustment.
4. Start the engine, then push and hold both the "MODE" and "E/M" buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds until the "CAL" indicator appears on the compass display with the outside temperature displayed.
NOTE:
At this time, the compass display is locked in "N".
5. Drive the vehicle slowly at 5 mph (8km/h), or less, in a circle until the "CAL" indication goes off and the direction is displayed. If there is not enough space to drive in a circle, drive around the block until the direction is displayed.
After performing the above steps, calibration is complete.
NOTE:
- Do not perform calibration of the compass in a place where the Earth's magnetic field is subject to interference by artificial magnetic fields (underground parking, under a steel tower, between buildings, roof parking, near a railroad crossing, near a large vehicle, etc.).
- During calibration, do not operate electric systems (moon roof, power windows, etc.) as they may interfere with the calibration.
