Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

3. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP
4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE




5. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
a. Disconnect the sensor connector.
b. Using SST, remove the sensor and gasket.

INSTALLATION




1. INSTALL ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
a. Install a new gasket onto the sensor.
b. Using SST, install the sensor.

SST 09817-33190

Torque: 19.6 N.m (200 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf)

c. Connect the sensor connector.

2. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CASE
3. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP
4. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
5. ADD ENGINE COOLANT
6. CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKAGE
