Air Pump System: Inspection
- INSPECT AIR PUMP ASSY
- Check the operation.
- Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal 2.
- Check that the air flows.
If the operation is not as specified, replace the air pump.
- Check the operation.
- INSPECT AIR PUMP RELAY
- Check the resistance.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.
Standard:
TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester Connection Specified Condition 1-2 Continuity 3-4 10kΩ or higher 3-4 Below 1 Ω (Apply battery voltage to terminals 1 and 2) If the result is not as specified, replace the air pump relay.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.
- Check the resistance.
- INSPECT AIR SWITCHING VALVE ASSY
- Check the operation.
- Apply a vacuum of 28 kPa (210 mmHg, 8.27 in.Hg) to port A, then blow air into port B. Check that the air is discharged from port C.
If the operation is not as specified, replace the air switching valve.
- Apply a vacuum of 28 kPa (210 mmHg, 8.27 in.Hg) to port A, then blow air into port B. Check that the air is discharged from port C.
- Check the operation.
- INSPECT VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSY
- Check the resistance.
- Check the vacuum switching valve for ground.
Using an ohmmeter, check the resistance between each terminal and the body.
Standard:
TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester Connection Specified Condition 1 - Body 10kΩ or higher 2 -Body 10 kΩ or higher If the resistance is not as specified, replace the vacuum switching valve.
- Check the operation.
- Check that air flows from port E to the filter. If the operation is not as specified, replace the vacuum switching valve.
- Apply battery positive voltage across the terminals.
- Check that air flow from port E to port F.
If the operation is not as specified, replace the vacuum switching valve.
