Park/Neutral Position Switch: Removal

2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Removal

  1. Remove battery.
  2. Remove battery carrier. See Figure.
  3. Remove clip and disconnect control cable from bracket. See Figure.
  4. Remove park/neutral position switch:
    1. Disconnect park/neutral position switch connector. See Figure.
    2. Remove nut and disconnect control cable. See Figure.
    3. Remove nut, washer and transaxle control shift lever. See Figure.
    4. Using a screwdriver, pry off lock plate. See Figure.
    5. Remove nut and lock plate.
    6. Remove 2 bolts and pull out park/neutral position switch. See Figure.
