Section 985 (Tire & Wheel): Inspection

2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Inspection

  1. INSPECT TIRE 
    1. Check the tires for wear and proper inflation pressure.

      Cold tire inflation pressure: 

      INFLATION PRESSURE SPECIFICATION

      Tire Size Front, Rear kPa (kg/cm2 , psi)
      P215/60R16 94V 200 (2.0, 29)
    2. Using a dial indicator, check the tire runout.

      Tire runout: 1.0mm (0.039 in.) or less

  2. ROTATE TIRE 

    HINT:

    • Rotate tires as shown in Fig 2.
    • Rotate as shown in (B) if the spare tire is included in the rotation.

  3. INSPECT WHEEL BALANCE 
    1. Check and adjust the Off-the-car balance.
    2. If necessary, check and adjust the On-the-car balance.

      Imbalance after adjustment: 8.0 g (0.018 lb) or less

  4. INSPECT BEARING BACKLASH 
  5. INSPECT BEARING BACKLASH 
  6. INSPECT AXLE HUB DEVIATION 
  7. INSPECT AXLE HUB DEVIATION
