Using OPEN DOOR Indicator Light

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect jumper wire between terminals TC and E1 of Data Link Connector No. 1 (DLC1) located in engine compartment. See Fig 1. Turn ignition on. Retrieve and record DTCs. DTCs are displayed as flashes of OPEN DOOR indicator light, located on instrument panel. All DTCs are 2-digit numbers. Pay careful attention to length of pauses in order to read codes correctly. See Fig 2. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODESΒ . Turn ignition off and remove jumper wire from DLC1.
  2. Operate system for which complaint was recorded to see if symptom can be recreated. Again retrieve and record DTCs. If same DTC is displayed and symptom is present, diagnose and repair DTC. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEXΒ  table. If same DTC is not received, but symptom is still present, diagnose and repair problem based on existing symptoms as follows:

  3. If same DTC is not received and symptom is not present, fault may have occurred in wire harness or connector in the past. Check connectors for loose, damaged or corroded terminals.
