Fuel Tank: Installation
2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Installation

- Support the fuel tank with a transmission jack.
- Raise fuel tank and install to vehicle. See Figure.
- Install the 2 fuel tank straps. See Figure.
- Install the fuel filler tube to the rubber hose at fuel tank. See Figure.
- Connect the vapor recirculation tube. See Figure.
- Connect the fuel line and EVAP line.
- Connect the fuel tank electrical connector. See Figure.
- Support driveshaft on jack.
- Install the driveshaft support/bearing. See Figure.
- Align the Marks on the driveshaft to the rear connection.
- Connect the driveshaft rear connection. See Figure.
- Install the exhaust system and tighten clamp.
- Install the center exhaust hanger rubber grommets. See Figure.
- Install muffler hanger rubber grommets. See Figure.
- Install the left rear tire.
- Lower vehicle.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Fill fuel tank. Use the DRBIII® scan tool to pressurize the fuel system. Check for leaks.

When to See a Mechanic
