Oil Pump: Installation
2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Installation

- Prime oil pump before installation by filling rotor cavity with clean engine oil.
- Install oil pump and gasket carefully over the crankshaft. Position pump onto block and tighten bolts to 28 N.m (250 in. lbs.) (Figure ).
- Install new O-ring on oil pickup tube.
- Install oil pickup tube.
- Install oil pan. (Refer to INSTALLATIONΒ )
- Install crankshaft sprocket. (Refer to INSTALLATIONΒ )
- Install timing belt. (Refer to INSTALLATIONΒ )
- Install the timing belt covers. (Refer to TIMING BELT/CHAIN COVER(S) - INSTALLATIONΒ )
- Install the crankshaft vibration damper. (Refer to INSTALLATIONΒ )
- Install the accessory drive belts. (Refer to DRIVE BELTS )
- Fill the cooling system. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - COOLING SYSTEM FILLING )
- Fill engine crankcase with proper oil to the correct level.
