Oil Pressure Relief Valve: Removal

- Remove the oil pan. (Refer to REMOVAL )
- To remove the relief valve, proceed as follows:
- Remove the cotter pin that retains the retainer cap.
- Drill a 3.175 mm (1/8 inch.) hole into the relief valve retainer cap
- Insert a self-threading sheet metal screw into cap.
- Using a suitable slide hammer tool, remove retainer cap. Discard retainer cap
- Remove spring and relief valve (Fig 1 ).
