Instrument Panel Safety Pad Sub-ASSY: Replacement
HINT:
COMPONENTS: See INSTRUMENT PANEL/METER
- TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT
HINT:
Indicate the bolts, screws and nuts, which are necessary for installation and removal of the instrument panel, in the illustration and the text with alphabets.
- SHIP MODE SETTING(W/ CD CHANGER) (See REPLACEMENT )
- DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
- PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO.2
- REMOVE CONNECTOR COVER
- REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSY
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSY

SST 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021)
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
- Disengage the tape, 3 clips, 7 claws and remove the front door scuff plate LH.
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSY UPPER
- Disconnect the hood lock control cable.
- Remove the bolt < B > and screw < I or J >.
- Disengage the 3 clips, claw and remove the instrument panel sub-assy upper then disconnect the connectors.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL INSERT SUB-ASSY LOWER LH
- Remove the 4 bolts < B >.
- Disengage the 2 claws and remove the instrument panel sub-assy lower LH.
- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER LWR NO.2

- REMOVE HEADLAMP DIMMER SWITCH ASSY

- REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSY

- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSY NO.1
- Using a screwdriver, lever up the 2 claws on the instrument panel safety pad sub-assy from inside of the registers.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Disengage the 2 claws and remove the instrument panel register assy No.1.
- Using a screwdriver, lever up the 2 claws on the instrument panel safety pad sub-assy from inside of the registers.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSY NO.3
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY
- Remove the 2 clips.
- Disengage the 2 clips and remove the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assy.
- REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSY
- Remove the 4 screws < G or H >.
- Pull out the combination meter assy, then disconnect the connectors.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSY NO.1
- Disengage the 3 claws and disconnect the connector.
- Disengage the pin and remove the instrument panel under cover sub-assy No.1.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSY LOWER
- Remove the 3 screws < H > and 2 bolts < B >.
- Disengage the clip and remove the instrument panel sub-assy lower.
- REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSY UPPER
- Disengage the 4 clips.
- Pull out the console panel sub-assy, then disconnect the connectors.
- REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL UPPER REAR
- Using a moulding remover, disengage the 6 clips and 2 claws.
- Remove the console panel upper rear with console panel upper front.
- REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET
- REMOVE RR CONSOLE BOX
- Remove the 2 bolt < C or D >, 2 screws < G >.
- Disengage the 2 claws and remove the console box assy rear, then disconnect the connector.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL AND LH
- Remove the screw < I or J >.
- Disengage the 2 clips and remove the instrument panel end LH.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH
- REMOVE AIR CONDITIONER CONTROL ASSEMBLY
- Using a moulding remover, disengage the 5 clips and 3 claws.
- Pull out the air conditioner control assembly, then disconnect the connectors.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY CENTER(W/ LEXUS NAVIGATION SYSTEM)
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 clips and remove the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assy center with radio receiver assy, then disconnect the connectors.
- REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER PANEL(W/O LEXUS NAVIGATION SYSTEM)
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 clips, 3 claws and remove the radio receiver panel with radio receiver assy, then disconnect the connectors.
- SHIP MODE CONFIRMATION(W/ CD CHANGER)(See REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH
- Remove a part of the front door opening weather strip LH.
- Strongly press the positions where the special clips are used, and release the clips.
- Disengage the 2 clips and 2 claws, pull the front pillar garnish LH backward of the vehicle, and remove.
- Remove the clip is not reusable.
- REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PLATE
- DISCONNECT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR ( SEE REMOVAL )
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD CAP
- Using a screwdriver, remove the instrument panel safety pad cap.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSY
- Remove the 2 bolts < A > < E >, 2 screws < F > < G > and nut < K >.
- Disconnect the connectors.
- Disengage the 2 pins and remove the instrument panel safety pad sub-assy.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOULDING NO.2
- Using a moulding remover, disengage the 6 claws and remove the instrument cluster moulding No.2.
- REMOVE SWITCH HOLE BASE NO.1
- Disengage the 4 claws and remove the switch hole base No.1.
- REMOVE GLOVE BOX LAMP ASSY
- Disengage the 2 claws and remove the glove box lamp assy.
- REMOVE AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR
- Using a screwdriver, remove the automatic light control sensor.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip, before use.
NOTE: Do not pry the automatic light control sensor off from the upper position.
