Transmission Control Cable ASSY: Replacement

- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSY (SEE REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING RADIATOR ASSY (SEE OVERHAUL )
- REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER (SEE REMOVAL & INSTALLATION )
- REMOVE BATTERY
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSY
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE NO. 1
- REMOVE INTAKE AIR RESONATOR SUB-ASSY
- REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSY
- Remove the nut from the control shaft lever.
- Disconnect the control cable from the control shaft lever.
- Remove the clip and disconnect the control cable from the control cable bracket.
- Disconnect the control cable from the control cable clamp.
- Disconnect the floor shift cable from the rod of the floor shift assy.
- Remove the 2 bolts and shift cable grommet retainer No. 2.
- Pull out the control cable from the body.
- INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSY
- Put in the control cable to the body.
- Install the shift cable grommet retainer No. 2 to the floor shift cable.
- Install the floor shift cable, as shown in the illustration.
HINT:
Install it with the uneven surface facing up.
- Install the shift cable grommet retainer No. 2 with the bolts.
Torque: 4.9 N.m (50 kgf.cm, 43 in.lbf)
- Connect the control cable to the control cable clamp.
- Temporarily install the control cable to the control shaft lever with nuts.
- Install the control cable and a new clip to the bracket.
- INSTALL INTAKE AIR RESONATOR SUB-ASSY
- INSTALL AIR CLEANER HOSE NO. 1
- INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSY
- INSTALL AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER (SEE REMOVAL & INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL AIR CONDITIONING RADIATOR ASSY (SEE OVERHAUL )
- INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSY (SEE REPLACEMENT )
- INSTALL BATTERY
- ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION (SEE ADJUSTMENT )
- INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION (SEE ADJUSTMENT )
