Heated Oxygen Sensor (3MZ-FE): Replacement

2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Replacement

  1. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE NO. 3 (BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL) 
  2. REMOVE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 
    1. Disconnect the 2 heated oxygen sensor connectors.

    2. Using SST, remove the 2 heated oxygen sensors.

  3. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 
    1. Using SST, remove the 2 heated oxygen sensors.

      Torque: 44 N.m (449 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf) 

    2. Connect the 2 heated oxygen sensor connectors.
  4. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE NO. 3 (BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL) 

    Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf) 

  5. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAKS 
  6. SYSTEM INITIALIZATION (See  PRECAUTION  )
