Air Fuel Ration Sensor (3MZ-FE (LH Bank)): Replacement

2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Replacement

  1. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE NO. 3 (BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL) 
  2. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR 
    1. Disconnect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.
    2. Remove the wire harness clamp.

    3. Using SST, remove the air fuel ratio sensor.

  3. INSTALL AIR FUEL RATION SENSOR 
    1. Using SST, install the air fuel ratio sensor. SST 09224-00010

      Torque: 44 N.m (449 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf)

    2. Install the wire harness clamp.
    3. Connect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.
  4. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE NO. 3 (BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL) 

    Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf) 

  5. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAKS 
  6. SYSTEM INITIALIZATION (See  PRECAUTION  )
