Radiator ASSY: Replacement
2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Replacement

- DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (See COOLANT )
- DISCONNECT RADIATOR RESERVE TANK HOSE OR PIPE
- DISCONNECT RADIATOR HOSE INLET
- DISCONNECT RADIATOR HOSE OUTLET
- DISCONNECT OIL COOLER OUTLET HOSE NO.2 (A/T)
- DISCONNECT OIL COOLER OUTLET HOSE NO.3 (A/T)
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET ASSY
- Remove the 2 bolts and air cleaner inlet.
- REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT UPPER
- Disconnect the 2 horn connectors.
- Remove the hood lock release lever cover.
- Remove the bolt shown in Fig 3 .
- Remove the 4 bolts and radiator support.
- REMOVE RADIATOR ASSY
- Disconnect the fan motor connector.
- Remove the radiator from the body.
- REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT LOWER
- REMOVE FAN ASSY W/MOTOR
- Remove the 3 bolts and fan from the radiator.
- INSTALL FAN ASSY W/MOTOR
- Install the fan to the radiator with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.Cm, 44 in.lbf)
- INSTALL RADIATOR ASSY
- Install the radiator to the body.
- Connect the fan motor connector.
- INSTALL RADIATOR SUPPORT UPPER
- Install the radiator support with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 14 N.m (142 kgf.cm,10 ft-lbf)
- Connect the 2 horn connectors.
- Install the radiator support with the 4 bolts.
- INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET ASSY
- Install the air cleaner inlet with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.Cm, 44 in.lbf)
- ADJUST HOOD SUB-ASSY (See ADJUSTMENT )
- ADD ENGINE COOLANT (See COOLANT )
- CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
