Inspection Procedure

2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Inspection Procedure

  1. INSPECT FUSE (ECU-B) 
    1. Remove the ECU-B fuse from the instrument panel J/B.
    2. Measure the resistance of the fuse.

      Standard: Below 1 Ω 

    1. NG : REPLACE FUSE 
    2. OK : Go to Next Step. 
  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (INSTRUMENT PANEL J/B ASSY - BATTERY) 
    1. Disconnect the 2I J/B connector.
    2. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard: 

      CONNECTOR TERMINAL DESCRIPTION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      2I-7 - Body ground 10 to 14 V
    1. NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK : Go to Next Step. 
  3. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY 
    1. Disconnect the 2I and 2H*1 or 2M*2 J/B connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the J/B.

      Standard: 

      CONNECTOR TERMINAL DESCRIPTION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      2I-7 - 2H-2*1 Below 1 Ω
      2I-7 - 2M-14*2 Below 1 Ω
    1. NG : REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY 
    2. OK : Go to Next Step. 
  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (INSTRUMENT PANEL J/B ASSY - INSTRUMENT PANEL J/B ASSY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the 2F, 2H**1 and 2M J/B connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard: 

      CONNECTOR TERMINAL DESCRIPTION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      2F-1 - 2H-2(1) Below 1 Ω
      2F-1 - 2M-14(2) Below 1 Ω
      2M-9 - Body ground Below 1 Ω
      2F-10 - Body ground Below 1 Ω
      (1) : Coupe
      (2) : Convertible
    1. NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK : PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN ON PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (See  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  )
