Inspection Procedure

2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK SYMPTOM 
    1. Check if sound is momentarily muted while opening or closing the convertible top.

      OK: Sound is momentarily muted. 

    1. NG: Go to step   2 
    2. OK: REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  2. INSPECT COURTESY LAMP SWITCH 
    1. Disconnect the courtesy lamp switch.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in SPECIFIED CONDITION  .

      Standard: 

      SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester connection Condition Specified condition
      1-2 ON (Shaft is not pressed) Below 1 Ω
      1-2 OFF (Shaft is pressed) 10 kΩ or higher

    1. NG: REPLACE COURTESY LAMP SWITCH 
    2. OK: Go to Next Step. 
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COURTESY LAMP SWITCH - STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSY) 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the stereo component amplifier assy and courtesy lamp switch.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the values in SPECIFIED CONDITION  .

      Standard: 

      SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester connection Condition Specified condition
      TSSW - 1 Always Below 1 Ω
      TSSW - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (COURTESY LAMP SWITCH - BODY GROUND)
