Valve Body Assembly: Disassembly

2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Disassembly

  1. Remove detent spring and manual valve from valve body assembly. Remove solenoids and lock plates, oil strainer and pressure relief valve. See Fig 1. Remove lower valve body No. 2-to-upper valve body bolts. See Fig 2. Note bolt length and location. Separate lower valve body No. 2 from lower valve body No. 1. See Fig 3.
  2. Turn over valve body assembly and remove 30 bolts securing upper valve body to lower valve body No. 1. See Fig 4. Separate upper valve body from lower valve body No. 1. Turn upper valve body over and remove 2 screws and separator plate.
