  1. FOR PRECAUTIONS (see  AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS  ) 
  2. SEPARATE BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  3. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO.2 
  5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO.2 (4 SPOKE STEERING WHEEL ASSY) 
  6. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO.3 (3 SPOKE STEERING WHEEL ASSY) 
  7. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSY (see  DUAL-STAGE DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE 
  8. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSY (see  STEERING WHEEL  ) 

    SST 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021)

  9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL (See  INSTRUMENT PANEL  ) 
  10. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (See x STEERING COLUMN  ) 
  11. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY (See  SPIRAL CABLE  ) 
  12. REMOVE STEERING SENSOR 
  13. INSTALL STEERING SENSOR 
  14. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY 
    1. If the following condition is identified, replace the spiral cable sub-assy with new one.

      Condition: 

      Scratches or cracks on the connector 

      Cracks, dents or chipping of the spiral cable sub-assy 

  15. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  16. INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY (See  SPIRAL CABLE  ) 
  17. CENTER SPIRAL CABLE (See  SPIRAL CABLE  ) 
  18. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSY (See  STEERING WHEEL  ) 
  19. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSY (see  DUAL-STAGE DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE  ) 
  20. INSPECT HORN BUTTON ASSY (see  DUAL-STAGE DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE  ) 
  21. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (See  SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  )
