Inspection Procedure

2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK CONTINUITY OF COMMUNICATION LINE 
    1. Check the wire harness between the instrument panel J/B (body ECU) and theft warning ECU (theft deterrent ECU).

      1. Disconnect the connectors of the B7 instrument panel J/B (body ECU) and T5 theft warning ECU (theft deterrent ECU).
      2. Check the continuity between terminal MPX3 (B7-13) of the instrument panel J/B (body ECU) wire harness side connector and terminal MPX1 (T5-10) of the theft warning ECU (theft deterrent ECU) wire harness side connector.

      Standard: Continuity 

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step 
  2. CHECK THEFT WARNING ECU ASSY (THEFT DETERRENT ECU) (POWER SOURCE) 
    1. Inspect the ECU power source input.
      1. Disconnect the T5 ECU connector.
      2. Check the voltage between terminal +B1 (T5-2) of the ECU wire harness side connector and the body ground.

    Standard: 

    TERMINALS SPECIFICATION

    Symbols (Terminal No.) Wiring color Condition Specified condition
    +B1 (T5-2) <-->Body ground W-R <-->- Constant 10 -14 V
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step 
  3. CHECK THEFT WARNING ECU ASSY (THEFT DETERRENT ECU) (GROUND) 
    1. Inspect the ECU body ground.
      1. Disconnect the T5 ECU connector.
      2. Check the continuity between terminal E (T5-11) of the ECU wire harness side connector and the body ground.

        Standard: Continuity

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: REPLACE THEFT WARNING ECU ASSY (THEFT DETERRENT ECU)
