Inspection Procedure

2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR ANY FOREIGN OBJECT 
    1. Check for any foreign object.
      1. Check that no foreign object or defect is detected in the cassette tape player of radio receiver assembly.

        Standard: No foreign object and defect detected. 

    1. NG: REMOVE FOREIGN OBJECT 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  2. CHECK CASSETTE TAPE 
    1. Check the cassette tape.
      1. Check that the cassette tape is a normal tape to which music or voice is recorded.

        Standard: Proper cassette tape to which music or voice is recorded 

    1. NG: CASSETTE TAPE FAULTY 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. REPLACE CASSETTE TAPE WITH ANOTHER AND RECHECK 
    1. Replace the cassette tape with another and recheck. 
      1. Replace the faulty cassette tape with the normal one to see if the same trouble occurs again.

        Standard: The function is recovered to be normal. 

    1. OK: CASSETTE TAPE FAULTY 
    2. NG: Go to next step. 
  4. CHECK IF RADIO AUTO-SEARCH FUNCTIONS PROPERLY 
    1. Check if the radio auto-search functions properly.
      1. Perform the auto-search of the radio and check that the operation is normal.

        Standard: The operation returns to be normal. 

    1. OK: CHECK AND REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER ASSY 
    2. NG: Go to next step. 
  5. INSPECT RADIO RECEIVER ASSY (+B/BU+B, ACC/ACC+B, GND) 
    1. Check that the continuity between terminals at each condition, as shown in the chart.

      Standard: 

      SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester connection Condition Specified condition
      GND - Body ground Constant Continuity
    2. Check that the voltage between terminals at each condition, as shown in the chart.

    Standard: 

    SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    +B/BU+B - GND Constant 10 - 14 V
    ACC/ACC+B - GND Ignition switch ACC or ON 10 - 14 V
