Inspection Procedure

2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK CONTINUITY OF COMMUNICATION LINE 
    1. Check the wire harness among the combination meter and gateway ECU and skid control ECU.

      1. Disconnect the connectors of the combination meter ECU, gateway ECU and skid control ECU.
      2. Check the continuity between terminal C8-2 (MPX+) of the combination meter vehicle's side connector and terminal G3-16 (MPI-2) of the gateway ECU vehicle's side connector.

        Standard: Continuity 

      3. Check the continuity between terminal C6-3 (MPX-) of the combination meter vehicle's side connector and terminal C8-17 (MPX1) of the skid control ECU vehicle's side connector.

        Standard: Continuity 

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step 
  2. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    1. Inspect the meter power source input.
      1. Disconnect the meter connector C8.
      2. Check the voltage between each terminal of the meter vehicle's side connector.

    Standard: 

    SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    C8-12 (+B) - Body ground Constant 10 - 14 V
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE FUSE OR WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step 
  3. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    1. Inspect the meter body ground.
      1. Disconnect the meter connector C8.
      2. Check the continuity between terminal 11 (E) of the meter and the body ground.

      Standard: Continuity

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY
