2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Inspection Procedure

  1. DO ACTIVE TEST OF LEXUS HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. ACTIVE TEST
      1. Make a judgement of good or bad and find out a malfunctioning part by the active test.

    METER ECU 

    Standard: 

    STANDARD

    KEY REMND BUZZER ON/OFF
    1. NG: GO TO INSTRUMENT PANEL/METER SECTION, see  INSTRUMENT PANEL  . 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  2. CHECK COURTESY LAMP 
    1. Make the map light assembly switch in the door position and open the driver's door courtesy light come on.
    1. OK: CHECK AND REPLACE THEFT WARNING ECU ASSEMBLY 
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  3. READ VALUE OF LEXUS HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. ECU DATA MONITOR
      1. Perform a data monitor of the data monitor.

      Standard: 

    DRIVER DOOR ECU (SWITCH CONDITION) 

    SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Item Condition Specified condition
    COURTESY SWITCH Door opened/Closed ON/OFF
    1. OK: CHECK AND REPLACE THEFT WARNING ECU ASSEMBLY 
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  4. INSPECT FRONT DOOR COURTESY LAMP SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check the continuity between terminal 1 and the body ground.

      Standard: 

    SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Terminal Condition Specified condition
    1 <=> Body ground Shaft not pushed in Continuity
    1 <=> Body ground Shaft pushed in No continuity

    1. NG: REPLACE FRONT DOOR COURTESY LAMP SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  5. CHECK AND REPLACE WIRE HARNESS (DOOR ECU - COURTESY LAMP SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the driver's door ECU and courtesy lamp switch connectors.
    2. Check the continuity between driver's door ECU vehicles side connector and courtesy lamp switch vehicles side connector. See TERMINALS OF ECU .

      Standard: 

    SPECIFIED CONDITION

    D17-27 <=> D8-1 (CTY <=> Courtesy switch) Continuity

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: CHECK AND REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU FRONT LH
