Section 557 (Steering Column Shift Assembly): Removal

2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Removal

  1. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ). 
  2. REMOVE PARKING LOCK CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the screw and parking lock cable No. 2.
    2. Using a torx socket wrench, remove the 2 screws and parking lock cable No. 1.
    3. Remove the spring.
    4. Remove the 2 bolts and parking lock cable housing.

  4. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER 
    1. Disconnect the connector.
    2. Using a torx socket wrench, remove the torx screw and shift lever.
    3. Remove the upper No. 2 steering column cover.
  5. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER HOUSING 

    Using a torx socket wrench, remove the 3 torx screws and shift lever housing.
