2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Inspection Procedure

  1. Check whether the engine can be started with a spare key of the same vehicle. 
    1. Yes : Replace key. 
    2. No : Go to Next Step 
  2. Check harness and connector between transponder key ECU and ECM (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 
    1. NG : Repair or replace harness or connector. 
    2. OK : Go to Next Step 
  3. Does it operate normally after replacement of transponder key ECU? 
    1. Yes : Replace transponder key ECU. 
    2. No : Check and replace ECM (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ).
