Drive Belt: Installation
2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Installation

- 5VZ-FE engine: Install drive belt.
- Tighten the idle pulley lock nut temporally.
Torque: 2.5 N.m (25 kgf.Cm, 22 in.lbf)
- Install the drive belt.
- Apply drive belt tension by adjusting bolt.
- Drive belt tension:
- New belt: 160 +/- 25 lbf
- Used belt: 100 +/- 25 lbf
- Tighten the idle pulley lock nut.
- Torque: 39 N.m (400 kgf.Cm, 29 ft.lbf)
- Install the engine under cover.

- Tighten the idle pulley lock nut temporally.
- 2UZ-FE engine: Install drive belt.
- Turn the drive belt tensioner counterclockwise then install the drive belt.
