Inspect Light Control Rheostat

2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Inspect Light Control Rheostat

  1. Connect terminal 1 and 2 through a 3.4 watt test bulb..

  2. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 3.
  3. Turn the rheostat knob to fully counterclockwise, check that the test bulb goes out.
  4. Gradually turn the rheostat knob to clockwise, check that the test bulb brightness changes from dark to bright.

    If operation is not as specified, replace the rheostat.
