Compressor And Magnetic Clutch: Removal
2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Removal

- Run engine at idle speed with A/C on for approx. 10 minutes .
- Stop engine .
- Disconnect negative (-) terminal cable from battery .
- Discharge refrigerant from refrigeration system .
- Disconnect discharge and suction hoses

Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the both hoses. See Fig 1.
- Remove drive belt . See REMOVAL .
- Remove compressor
:
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the 3 bolts and nut. See Fig 2.
- Remove the cooler bracket.
- Remove the compressor.
CAUTION:
Cap the open fitting immediately to keep moisture or dirt out of the system.
