Fuel System Pressure Release

2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Fuel System Pressure Release

  1. Remove circuit opening relay from engine room relay block. See Fig 1. Start engine. After engine has stopped on its own, turn ignition switch off. If DTC P0171 is output, check that engine does not start. Remove fuel tank cap and let air out of fuel tank.
  2. Connect battery terminal and install circuit opening relay.
  3. When disconnecting high fuel pressure line, a large amount of gasoline may spill out. Put a container under connection. Disconnect fuel pump tube. Drain fuel remaining in fuel pump tube. To prevent damage to disconnected fuel pump tube, cover ends with a vinyl bag.
