Active Test

2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Active Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Toyota Camry. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Performing the ACTIVE TEST using the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester allows the relay, VSV, actuator and so on to operate without parts removal. Performing the ACTIVE TEST as a first step of trouble shooting is one method to shorten diagnostic time.

It is possible to display the DATA LIST during the ACTIVE TEST.

  1. Warm up the engine and turn the ignition switch OFF.
  2. Connect the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester to the DLC3. See Figure.
  3. Turn the ignition switch and hand-held tester or OBD II scan tool ON.
  4. Select the item DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / ACTIVE TEST.
  5. According to the display on tester, perform the ACTIVE TEST. See Fig 1.
