Diagnostic Procedure

2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3 and turn the ignition and hand-held tester switch ON. See Figure. Check that the luggage opener motor can operate in an ACTIVE TEST. If the results are OK, the circuit is OK. Further diagnosis is needed. If the results are not OK, go to the next step.
  2. Check the luggage opener motor. See LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER MOTOR under COMPONENT TESTS under POWER DOOR LOCKS & TRUNK LID article under DOOR LOCKS & ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not OK, replace the luggage opener motor. See DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION under POWER DOOR LOCKS & TRUNK LID article under DOOR LOCKS & ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  3. Check the wiring harness and connector between the luggage opener motor and body ECU, and luggage opener relay and body ECU. See WIRING DIAGRAMSΒ . If the results are OK, the circuit is OK. Further diagnosis is needed. If the results are not OK, repair or replace the wiring harness or connector.
